About
Florian
Kroker

I am an international cinematographer and photographer with more than a decade’s experience at ARD, ZDF and Deutsche Welle.

My work in documentary filmmaking has taken me from Native American sheepherders in New Mexico to the gang-ridden neighborhoods of Chicago, from the Mwani farmers of Zanzibar to traditional Kente weavers in Burkina Faso.

I am no stranger to critical situations, whether it’s Hurricane Florence of 2018, the 2020 Uprising protests, the storming of the US Capitol on January 6th 2021, the war in Ukraine 2022 or Israel-Hamas war since Oct. 7th 2023.

“The subject matter is so much more important than the photographer” – Gordon Parks

It’s important to me to understand the details and circumstances of every story, and to build a close connection to the subjects. This enables me to dive deep into the essential, making the camera as invisible as possible.
